Failed install on "Security Update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 (KB2596764)"
The above patch fails to install with "Error Code: 0x80070643 " I dont have Office 2007, I have office 2010. I did a "Find solutions" option for this and got one option Office 2003 Update fails to install with error 0x80070643 Followed the directions and my OSE service is not disabled. In manual mode.

The issue can occur if third party programs affect Microsoft Update service. I suggest temporarily turnning off UAC and manually install Office update to test the issue. Sabrina TechNet Community Support
